Paban Kumar Das is a weaver-entrepreneur from Bankura, West Bengal. The region carries an abundance of sabai grass, with a rich craft history of sabai weaving. Over the years, Paban Das has transitioned from the traditional rope-weaving techniques of using sabai grass to a finer weave on a frame loom, blending cotton yarn with the grass fiber which results in a softer, lighter material, ideal for refined runners, table mats and tatami mats.
